US to Mediate Ukraine-Russia Negotiations in Abu Dhabi Next Week

A U.S. Special Envoy announced that American officials would facilitate high-level discussions between Kyiv and Moscow to pursue lasting security and an end to the ongoing conflict.

US to Mediate Ukraine-Russia Negotiations in Abu Dhabi Next Week

United States officials are scheduled to mediate a new series of negotiations between representatives from Ukraine and Russia next week. The objective of these discussions is to establish “lasting security for generations to come,” as stated by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Monday.

Witkoff confirmed that these U.S.-facilitated negotiations will take place on November 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, located in the United Arab Emirates.

Upcoming Diplomatic Engagements

Detailing the agenda, Witkoff communicated via social media that the United States would mediate these working-level discussions, which are intended to advance President Trump’s mission to conclude the conflict. Key topics for discussion will include post-war security frameworks, strategies for de-escalation, humanitarian initiatives, and subsequent steps toward achieving peace.

Prior to these peace talks, American negotiators are also slated to meet this week in Brussels with representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and NATO.

Witkoff further elaborated on the Brussels meetings, stating that American negotiators would engage with European allies and NATO to discuss security assurances for Ukraine, the future security architecture of Europe following the conflict, and economic opportunities to support Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.

Broader Peace Initiatives

This diplomatic push by the U.S. government builds upon earlier discussions held in various locations, including Kyiv, Oslo, and St. Petersburg. The Trump administration has consistently pursued efforts to broker a resolution to the conflict since Russia’s extensive invasion of Ukraine commenced in February 2022.

“We look forward to building on the progress made in Kyiv, Oslo, and St. Petersburg toward a comprehensive, durable peace agreement that delivers lasting security for generations to come,” Witkoff remarked, underscoring the long-term vision for the negotiations.

These developments follow President Donald Trump’s recent comments last month, where he suggested that efforts to resolve the war were “maybe now the closest we’ve been.” He also expressed his belief that both sides were seeking an end to the conflict after years of intense fighting and significant casualties.
