Authorities in Texas last week apprehended a Dallas-area community college professor who stands accused of transmitting sexually explicit photographs and messages online to an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old male.
Aaron Wood, 34, who taught drama for two years at North Central Texas College (NCTC), allegedly sent these communications via Snapchat to an undercover agent in Florida on May 22.
The Denton County Sheriff’s Office took Wood into custody last Friday, charging him with solicitation of a minor via computer, according to county records.
College Confirms Employment Termination
North Central Texas College confirmed Wood's arrest in a statement, indicating that he was no longer employed by the institution as of Monday. The college also clarified that, to its knowledge, the alleged offense did not involve any of its students or staff members.
“To our knowledge, the alleged offense does not involve NCTC, its students or staff,” the college stated. “We can verify that he has had no contact with NCTC students, faculty or staff since his arrest on September 25, 2026.”
Details from the Arrest Affidavit
According to the arrest affidavit, Wood reportedly engaged in an online dialogue on Snapchat with an undercover officer from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. During this interaction, Wood allegedly informed the undercover officer that he instructs students who are approximately the same age as the individual he presumed he was communicating with.
When questioned about his students, Wood purportedly told the officer he had “been into a few over the years” and expressed nervousness, yet maintained his interest in continuing the conversation with the undercover officer.
The affidavit further details that Wood allegedly sent a picture of male genitals, alongside other sexually explicit messages, to the officer, and requested to receive similar images in return. Investigators traced Wood’s location through the internet protocol (IP) address utilized during the online exchange, which led them to an apartment in Denton.
The affidavit notes that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office had established probable cause to charge Wood with the transmission of harmful material to minors and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Despite the allegations reportedly not involving any NCTC students, the college reiterated that “the safety of our students and staff are of the utmost importance and concern.”
