A physician specializing in pediatric critical care in Pittsburgh was fatally stabbed, and his wife sustained critical injuries, following an alleged home invasion and attack as they slept early Thursday morning, authorities reported.
Dr. Idris Evans, 46, was pronounced dead after the assault at his residence in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, according to details released by the Allegheny County Police Department.
Fatal Overnight Attack Unfolds
Emergency services were dispatched at 12:31 a.m. after a report of a stabbing at a home on the 100 block of Linden Avenue. Responding officers discovered Dr. Evans and his wife suffering from multiple stab wounds. Dr. Evans was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His wife was also hospitalized and is currently in critical condition.
Police have identified Elijah Hemingway, 32, of Pittsburgh, as the individual suspected in the violent incident.
