Louisiana Man Accused of Killing Wife, Driving with Her Body Across States Before Tennessee Arrest

A Louisiana man is facing serious charges after he was apprehended in Tennessee, accused of killing his wife and then driving her body across state lines. Authorities reported that Tyronne Brazille, 50, was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Memphis led to the discovery of his wife, Lanessa Bradford, 50, deceased in the passenger seat of his vehicle.

According to local reports, officers pulled Brazille over on Thursday for a traffic infraction. During the stop, they found Ms. Bradford's lifeless body, which appeared to have a gunshot wound.

Victim Reportedly Planned to Leave Accused Husband

The incident unfolded against a backdrop of marital strife, according to a longtime friend of Ms. Bradford, Shelicka Decker. Decker informed a local outlet that the couple had been married for years, but Ms. Bradford was actively making plans to separate from Brazille.

"She had the money saved up. She had come up with a plan, and she was going to just vanish. That was the only way she would be able to get away from him," Decker recounted. "She was going to leave her car, she was going to leave all the things behind, and she had been in touch with her family that was out of town, and that’s how she was going to make this move to get away."

However, before Ms. Bradford could execute her departure, investigators allege that Brazille fatally shot her during an argument. The fatal confrontation reportedly occurred at Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge.

Following the alleged shooting, authorities state that Brazille drove through several states with Ms. Bradford's body in the vehicle before he was eventually stopped in Memphis. He was subsequently arrested as a fugitive.

Friend Expresses Shock and Heartbreak

Shelika Decker conveyed her profound shock and numerous questions regarding the accused's actions after the alleged killing.

"I have so many questions, like, what were you doing in the car with her that amount of time while she was deceased," Decker stated. "Where was his mind at during that ride? It’s so crazy and heartbreaking."

Decker also revealed that Ms. Bradford had previously shared concerns about Brazille. According to Decker, whenever Ms. Bradford discussed leaving, Brazille would allegedly threaten either suicide or to kill Ms. Bradford. Despite these threats, Decker admitted she never truly believed he would act on them.

"He never put his hands on her up until recently, like maybe like two or three months ago," Decker commented, adding, "It wouldn’t have surprised me if someone had called and said that he killed himself because he always says this. It surprised me that he killed her."

Ms. Bradford was employed at an elementary school in Baton Rouge. After she missed several days of work, the school contacted police to request a welfare check at her residence.

Reflecting on her friend, Decker described Ms. Bradford as a deeply positive influence in her community.

"It’s such an unfortunate situation, like everybody, she was such a good person. Everybody, she uplifted a lot of people, a lot of parents," Decker shared. She also extended her sympathies to both families. "My prayers are with her family and friends as well as his, because we were all friends. We all, you know, hung around each other, and this is just not the same person that we grew up with."

Upcoming Legal Proceedings

Brazille is currently awaiting extradition to Louisiana and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Upon his return to Louisiana, law enforcement officials anticipate he will face a murder charge in connection with Ms. Bradford’s death.
