The Dallas Cowboys secured a significant NFC East victory against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, triumphing 37-20. However, the game was marred by an unfortunate incident involving one of their players.
On-Field Incident and Injury Details
During the second quarter, Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant was covering Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the end zone. As Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels launched a pass high over McLaurin, Durant fell to the turf, landing on his chest.
While Durant remained on the ground, Cowboys safety Markquese Bell, moving backward, inadvertently stepped on the fallen cornerback. Bell's foot landed on Durant's posterior and groin region, exacerbating the discomfort Durant was already experiencing.
Durant remained on the field for a brief period, attempting to recover. He was subsequently assisted by Cowboys medical staff and departed the game, not returning to action.
Durant signed with the Cowboys during the offseason on a one-year contract valued at $4 million. Prior to this, he played his initial four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he accumulated 141 tackles and seven interceptions over 61 games. In the team's previous loss to the New York Giants, he recorded one tackle and a pass breakup.
In the second half, the Cowboys' defense limited the Commanders to just 10 points. This period also saw Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels exit the game with a dislocated elbow. Dallas's defense also secured the game's sole turnover, forcing a fumble from Dyami Brown.
Following the win, Dallas's season record improved to 1-1, while Washington's record dropped to 0-2.
